About the Series
I have a keen interest in breeding. Professionally, I am an equine artist and illustrator. After doing mostly commission work for the last 6 years, I was looking for a project that I could combine my interest in breeding, learn more about bloodlines, and educate the public about Canadian breeders.
Many of my clients and friends have foals that I have watched grow up. It always fascinated me when I drew or painted a foal, a few years later, they would be winning in the ring. (The story about Espresso B on my blog is just one example.) From this fascination, my original artwork series ‘Canadian Bred’ was born. My subjects are all young sporthorses born in Canada. I believe there are some really amazing horses being born and bred here! I will be following them as as they grow up, documenting their lives through artwork, as they grow to competition age.
